Ethical Sourcing and Sustainable Economic Development

Our commitment to fair trade and fair pay is central to our brand. By building sustainable rural economic development for the country, growth of the flower has helped break the cycle of war that has ravaged Afghanistan for decades and devastated the country’s agricultural sector. Super Negin Saffron is the needed solution to the widespread illegal growth of opium and its resulting black market, by creating a legal source of income for Afghan farmers. With over 80% of the country’s population relying on its rural agricultural economy, our mandate is to work directly and deeply with the roots of the product, including direct connections with our supply management team in Afghanistan to ensure ethical growing as well as a promise to farmers to invest in their communities and help empower women and men who work in the fields. Saffron is the perfect, beneficial and legal source of income for the Afghan farmers.

Our mission is to change the livelihoods of thousands of disadvantaged citizens, and build the local agricultural economy by supporting fair trade, and empowering women and rural communities.

CFIA ACIA certification | GMP CERTIFED

Top Quality Assurance Certifications

Saffron is considered to be pure when it complies with the requirements of the standard ISO 3632 and when no external matter has been added to the natural product.

We take care that these standards are met by our farmers in Afghanistan and are validated by the Ministry of Agriculture of Afghanistan. Once the product arrives in Canada, Ariana™ takes care of re-testing to ensure you receive a top quality (Super Negin), organic and safe product.

At Ariana™ Spices, we ensure that food safety and quality are not compromised through strict adherence and an ongoing commitment to GMPs and Standard Sanitation Procedures.

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is a term understood and well recognized worldwide for the control and management of manufacturing and testing of products. Obtaining the GMP certification confirms the quality of our product, being protected from alterations and contaminations. Adopting GMP also means that the distribution and storage of the product follow very rigorous guidelines that protect its quality and safety.

Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) has come to be recognized as a global standard for food safety and Ariana has been granted a HACCP level 1 certification. The World Health Organization has acknowledged its importance in helping control food-borne diseases. It focuses on multiple points of food production and processing so that finished products are deemed safe. This is a much more effective way of maintaining quality rather than focusing solely on the inspection of finished goods.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is a science-based regulatory body dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of Canadians by safeguarding Canada's food supply and the plants upon which safe, high-quality food depends. The CFIA is responsible for enforcing the food safety policies and standards that Health Canada sets. CFIA compliance and enforcement actions occur all along the supply chain and they involve numerous stakeholders and jurisdictions.

At Ariana™, we work closely with the CFIA to ensure the highest level of food safety and product quality.
